Among this week’s featured artists is Sebastian Ore Blas, a Brooklyn-based painter whose work explores the tension between the physical and metaphysical. Drawing on magical realism, art history, and his own photographic archive of domestic scenes, Ore Blas creates fragmented, uncanny compositions from disparate elements. Shifts in color, value, and contrast blur the boundaries between the abstract and the real, the allegorical and the literal, and the present and the absent.
