This week’s featured artist is Emma Steinkraus, whose whimsical, dreamlike paintings are included in Pastime, a new group exhibition at PLATO. Opening Thursday, July 16, Pastime brings together seventeen international artists exploring leisure, togetherness, and the small pleasures that shape our memories. Inspired by shared meals, summer rituals, and carefree moments, the exhibition unfolds as a playful guide to living well—from frolicking through spring woods and hunting unicorns (as imagined by Steinkraus) to dancing late into the night, discovering hidden gardens, and ending the evening over Peking duck in Chinatown. Together, the artists create a celebration of joy, recreation, and the fleeting moments that become our favorite memories, making Pastime one of this week’s standout contemporary art exhibitions in Lower Manhattan.
